Andrea Armstrong, J.D., M.P.A.

Professor Andrea Armstrong joined Loyola University New Orleans, College of Law in 2010 and is certified by the U.S. Department of Justice as a Prison Rape Elimination Act auditor. Her scholarship focuses on the constitutional dimensions of incarceration, specifically prison labor, race and conditions of incarceration, and public oversight of detention facilities.  Prof. Armstrong founded Incarceration Transparency, a website that analyzes deaths behind bars in Louisiana and memorializes lives lost behind bars.  Her research has been profiled by New Yorker Magazine and quoted in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and National Public Radio among others.  She teaches in the related fields of incarceration law & policy, constitutional law, and criminal law and procedure. Professor Armstrong is a graduate of Yale Law School (JD), the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs (MPA), and New York University (BA).
